Our services
At St Johns Higham we can offer many services to the community - the main services we can offer are listed below. Please contact us for further information.

WeddingsWe very much enjoy weddings at St. John’s – they are great family occasions for the church as well as the families of the couple.

If you want to marry here, the normal Church of England rules apply: one of you must be resident in the parish; or if you live outside the parish you must be on the church’s Electoral Roll, which requires you to have attended regularly for 6 months.

If one or both of you have been divorced you may be able to marry here, but you will need to discuss the issues with the Vicar.

If you want to enquire about weddings here, please contact us.

BaptismWe welcome children and adults in baptism, in accordance with normal Church of England practice.

The baptism of children involves serious and long-term commitments by parents and Godparents, so we offer preparation that will help you decide whether to go for baptism, or for the alternative, which is a service of thanksgiving, including a naming ceremony.

Baptisms and thanksgivings always take place as part of the normal Sunday morning worship, so that the whole church community can be involved in welcoming a new member.

If you are not currently a churchgoer here, please come to one of the services – either on Sunday or the monthly parent and toddler service – or make contact with the Vicar, Rev. Richard Adams.

We regret that we are unable to baptise children who live outside the parish unless the family is already in regular membership at St. John’s.

FuneralsWe do our best to help bereaved families in every way possible, by arranging funeral services that not only offer worship to God but also are shaped to honour the memory of the person who has died.

ChurchyardThe churchyard is still available for burials for people who live in the parish or are regular church members, and we also offer burial of ashes for those who have been cremated.

Please contact the vicar, Rev. Richard Adams, who will help as much as possible at this difficult time.
