About St Johns Higham

About the churchThe church was built in 1874 on land given by the Starkie family originally as a daughter church of St. Leonards, Padiham, until 2002 when it became a parish church in its own right. The church is now a joint benefice with the neighbouring parish of St. Anne's, Fence.

St. John's is the only Christian congregation currently meeting in Higham, so we welcome people of all Christian traditions and none, and try to develop a style which is flexible and open to the strengths that other churches bring.

Our mission statement says: "depending on the Holy Spirit, we undertake to worship God worthily and to proclaim the good news of His love shown to us in Jesus, our Saviour. We endeavour to develop spiritually and to bring more people to know Jesus.

We seek to serve both our church family and the local community. We aim to work together with our fellow Christians both at a local level and within the world-wide Christian Church.
